1) What is your role at GoKart?
I head up the Digital Marketing activities at GoKart. From making sure we look good on social media, to constantly updating our customers with updates and innovative content. My role is always evolving with the growth of the company, which is one of the benefits of working with a startup.
2) Why did you want to work in the food industry?
Food has always been in the family, my mother used to run an Ethiopian restaurant when I used to live in Kenya. I am also a big fan of the London food scene, especially street food. Whilst constantly trying new food, I was always coming up with cool marketing ideas for food businesses. For an industry that is integral to humans (we all need to eat), the lack of innovation in the space really drew me into thinking of various solutions. Once Deliveroo and Uber Eats disrupted the industry, it motivated me to see how I can get involved.
3) What drew you to working with GoKart?
What mainly drew me to working with GoKart was the vision of the CEO Anx and the enthusiasm of the team. They really are on a mission to disrupt the restaurant industry and make ordering supplies more efficient. Their product is actually innovative and is helping independent restaurants save money. The idea that GoKart can really make a dent in the restaurant industry excited me a lot. What’s not to love?
4) What is the best thing about working in the food industry?
The best thing about working in the food industry…hands down is the ‘food talk’. Everyone in the office is always talking about the best places to eat, and restaurants we need to try. My list of restaurants to try is always expanding – I am getting lots of points from my friends and family for showing them new and exciting food places to try. If you are a foodie, then this is the place to be!
